Welcome to the Left Bank Collaborative

The Left Bank of the River Mersey, stretching from New Brighton to Bromborough, is on the cusp of a transformational journey. Wirral’s Economic Strategy (2021-2026) has laid the foundation for a 20-year regeneration programme, turning this stretch of waterfront into a sustainable urban garden community. With the Birkenhead 2040 Framework as its backbone, the vision for the Left Bank is to create a vibrant, attractive space for residents, businesses, and investors alike.

But to make this vision a reality, it must be more than just buildings and infrastructure—it must reflect the aspirations of the people who live, work, and thrive here. This is where the Left Bank Collaborative comes in.

What is the Left Bank Collaborative?

The Left Bank Collaborative is a network of local businesses, organisations, developers, and community bodies committed to shaping the future of the Left Bank area. It’s an initiative designed to bring together diverse stakeholders who want to contribute their ideas and work together to create a unified vision for the region.

By fostering collaboration, the Left Bank Collaborative will unlock opportunities to enhance the regeneration programme. Our goal is to ensure that this transformation benefits everyone—residents, businesses, and visitors—creating a long-term, sustainable future for the entire Wirral Peninsula.

Why Do We Need a Collaborative?

The Left Bank is a vast and diverse area with many organisations and individuals working independently, often without knowledge of each other's efforts. Without a unified vision, these opportunities could be missed. The Collaborative seeks to align these ambitions and projects, ensuring that every initiative adds value to the Left Bank’s growth.

By working together, we can make the most of these opportunities, complementing the core regeneration projects and creating a brighter future for all.

Connect stakeholders

We’ll bring together businesses, community organisations, developers, and individuals who share a commitment to the Left Bank’s transformation.

What will the Left Bank Collaborative Do?

Foster creativity with discipline

Innovation will be key, but so will a structured approach to ensure ideas are practical and sustainable.

Catalogue and share ideas

We’ll create a portal for sharing projects, opportunities, and requests, making collaboration easier and more transparent.

Build consensus

Through discussions, plenary sessions, and shared platforms, we’ll align visions and ensure that everyone’s voice is heard.

Support delivery

We’ll work together to turn opportunities into tangible developments that benefit the Left Bank community.

How Will It Be Run?

The Left Bank Collaborative will be facilitated by the Wirral Chamber of Commerce, with executive support provided to ensure smooth operation. It’s open to all stakeholders who are committed to enhancing the long-term attractiveness of the Left Bank for residents and businesses.

While independent of Wirral Council, we will work in partnership with them to ensure alignment with the wider regeneration strategy. Our focus will remain on collaboration, with the steering group representing diverse voices from the business sector, community bodies, and education institutions.
